Hi, I'm Deven

Born and raised in Boise, Idaho, I moved to Colorado over 15 years ago. With a Bachelor of Arts in Music and an Education Minor from the College of Idaho, I went on to earn a Master of Music-Vocal Performance from Colorado State University. My wife and I moved to Broomfield in 2008. I began my opera singing career performing with regional groups such as Central City Opera, Opera Fort Collins, Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, and University of Colorado Boulder. I then went on to work professionally for Central City Opera, The Dairy Center for the Arts, and the Conference on World Affairs.

I am married to my wife Cori and I have two children at Kohl Elementary School.

The First 4 Years

I am proud of my record of supporting the Broomfield community, enhancing the creative economy, improving our local and regional transportation systems, and ensuring the public health and safety of our residents. I want to continue the progress the City Council has made over the past 3 years even while navigating through a pandemic that challenged our community’s resilience. As we reemerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, I can continue to provide experience, stability, and bold leadership the community needs in the coming years.

I have been responsive to the residents' concerns and needs as dictated in the community survey, public comment, email and phone calls. These concerns focus on housing, sustainability, economic vitality, and public health and safety. While addressing these concerns, I have also advocated for revitalization and beautification projects, supporting local businesses, protecting parks and open space, and planning for a strong, prosperous future and quality of life for all Broomfield residents.

As a father of two students at Kohl Elementary School and a substitute teacher, I interact with Broomfield residents on a daily basis. In these conversations, I listen and take note of how to show up and respond. I offer transparency and inclusion of ideas on all matters important to them. As we move forward to a new normal in our community, I look forward to spending more time with constituents and continuing the work of the people.
